WinCC User Archives - Export Multiple Data Records to PLC

The data is being read / written using User Archive Control Tags. There is a requirement to Filter the records based on a specific filter criteria (Upto 30 records) and write their values to a PLC DB using External tags. Presently we are doing the same by Exporting the records to a text file and then using a VB Script, we read the values from text file and write the same to external tags. This is causing two issues : a) the VB Script takes a long time (4-5 seconds) to execute b) During this period reading / writing to the User archives (Using Control Tags) does not work. Two questions : 1. Is there a better / more efficient way of achieving this ? 2. How to ensure that the UA updation is not affected by VBscript execution ? Thanks in anticipation.

In both cases I would recommend you to use the C-Script with ua-Functions. It is faster as VBS/control tags. https://support.industry.siemens.com/cs/de/en/view/109792585/64029315339 BR, Fess

We are using C-Script to Filter, Sort and Export 30 Records (Rows) of a batch to a Text file. (As we don't know how to write multiple records to External tags in C-Script) VB-Script is being used to read the Text file exported from UA and update an array of 30 sets of records in External Tags (PLC Tags). These are further used to compile and print a report of the whole batch. Hope this clarifies the problem. Cheers Navnag

It should be possble to write/read the Data of UA during the VBScript is running. one exception: If you set the Control Tags via VBScript, which run in the same queue. e.g. Your VBScript, which read the values from the file, runs as global Action and you set the Control Tags via VBScript as global Action. So wait the VBScript with Control Tags for the VBScript with File-Reading. BR, Fess.
