WinCC Setup Problem

Dec Gold Expert Joined: 5/19/2006 Last visit: 1/11/2026 Posts: 550 Rating: (107)	I tried to install WinCC V6.0 SP4 on a computer XP-SP2 and after 20 minutes WinCC Setup aborted at 5% (ACE setup 1/19). I looked on the log file HMI_SC_ACE_LOG.TXT and the last entries were complaining about the PATH being to long [:(]. According to M$ theoretic you can have 32k char in thePATH but if you use cmd you are limited to 2047/8192 chars. I had only about 800 char in my PATH env. I delete some path entries, restart the setup and everything was fine. Does anybody have had this problem before? Dec

Salma Posts: 1398 Rating: (151)	Maybe all the path entries that WinCC needed to create exceeded the 1024 limit - as you have seen, it creates a lot of path statements ! - which is whythe installationfailed. Just a thought ... Glad it is working now

I had step7, Indusoft, FIX32, iFIX, Wizcon, WinCC Flexible and several other software installed, though... I didn't uninstall any software, though... I copied some of the path used by WinCC to a .txt, deleted it, installed RSView, and then pasted it back on, after RSView paths... By some kind of miracle it worked, and both software ran with no aparent problems! [:o] I ran a lot of destructive tests with both software and still had no problems... Of course I was affraid of having trouble in the future, so I cleared the path some more, just in case! [:)]
