Old S7-300 Profbus DP Master to S7-1200 CM 1242-5 Possible?

TheRealS1ack Posts: 13 Rating: (2)	Existing CPU is CPU 315-2 DP 6ES7 315-2AF03-0AB0 Firmware V1.2 Modifed hardware to swap out an existing Profubus DP slave... S7-1200 6ES7 214-1AG40-0XB0Frimware V4.6 Slave setup as. "I-slave communication" S7-300 Master setup to match, and map I/O to match removed old slave. LEDs and hardware online both sides are green/good. S7-300 diagnostic buffer is telling me this... Co-worker has the feeling that the S7-300 is just too old to understand what I-slave communication is. Thinks it may need discrete function blocks to get messages back and forth (but I am not sure on side or both). Any insights appreciated.

Duris_I Diamond Expert Joined: 4/28/2015 Last visit: 11/27/2025 Posts: 10970 Rating: (844)	Hello, eeeehm something says to me like this, also older CPU is only pure PB Master and can access to any std Slave what is correctly defined via correctly prepared or exported GSD/GSDML file. I don't want to speculate because firmware compatibility isn't clear to me here (what Murof has presented) but probbaly I see cfg problem somehow. Can you show that S7-300 HW cfg screen to see imported file cfg of S7-1200? DPV0/DPV1 possibility of cfg? I expect maybe DPV0 better on older CPUs. Maybe I'm wrong but GSD import is something that I don't see like any firmware requirements, I see there some cfg error with areas probbaly or other access error (speed different, DP profile dependencies,...).
