Bhaskaran Posts: 107 Rating: (13)	Hi ! I am currently doing an installation with WinCC 7.0 in Server Client Configuration. I have created a Multiuser project with a Server and 2 Clients. The server is based on WIndows Server 2003 and WinCC Runtime is also running without problem. I have generated server packet manually and is residing under the computer name of the Server Now the real confusion starts with configuring clients. I have installed Win CCas clienton both the client PCs. In order to start the runtime on the client I have to open the "MCP" file on the Server and once the file is open and loaded on the Win CC client I can start the runtime by pressing the Corresponding button. Thisway I can start the both the clients. Now I have follwoing questions -- 1. Do I have to explicitely open the mcp filelying on the server from the client. What does the package data do in this case. 2. On the server, I have allocated user rights for the client for the project directory. The client is not able open the project on the server as long as the Project directoryis notgiven Modify rights. This is an insecure scenario as the client can very easily delete data on the Server. Is there any step by step guide exisitng in the Support center or technical forum regarding the Server Client Configuration. An early help will be highly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Under the section Creating a New Project on the client there is a note " If a multi user system is configured in which several clients display a view of precisely one server, do not create local projects for the clients, but configure the client behaviour in the server project.""

rit03 Posts: 341 Rating: (24)	Yes if you need to view percisely one server , there is no need to creat local project. This would be Client without project. All you need is to open WIncc explorer and open the file from server i.e, \\Server\WinCC60_Project_V6\V6.MCP For auto start, Go to Windows Start Menu Click "Start>Simatic>WinCC" and select the "Autostart" entry and provide path according to above example path. regards, rit03

CBo Gold Member Joined: 4/5/2006 Last visit: 10/3/2025 Posts: 917 Rating: (63)	Hi Bhaskaran, "OS Server data" (package data) needed when you use Multiclient configuration (client with own project), after cretae Server Data on the OS Server you have to import them in Client project. Multiclient need a lil more work than client withou project but better performance because Server will be not loaded with extraworks...it just for you and depending from your configuration Regards
