Hi, HyperV is not released for PCS7. For PCS7, only VMWare is released: PCS7 v8.2 with ESXi v5.5 and v6.0 PCS7 v8.1 with ESXi v5.5 PCS7 v8.0 with ESXi v5.1 |

Hi Ratface, It may/may not work, it is not tested by Siemens. So, if you run into problems, Siemens will not be able to help you. They would say: Use ESXi software. For your own purpose it would be fine, but I don't think the customer would like it if you use software which is not released. |

Hi Ratface, Yes, I would not use this combination. A good example: We have a customer which uses a redundant server pair: One server is virtualized on ESXi, but the other one is physical (IPC847D). This setup is not released. It may be two physical servers or two virtual servers, but not mixed operation. They have introduced a problem, which was discovered only a week ago (but the plant is already in operation for one year). Several engineers have had problems when a full download occur. Almost everytime, the redundant server connection was lost, resulting in problems and costing money in the process. The problem is that with this setup, a specific procedure must be executed. First full download to the physical server and then a full download to the virtual server. If you do this the other way around, you have problems. This is not logical. But, what other issues can you expect? When the customer wants to open a Service Request, they will not receive support. So how long before something really bad happens? |
