Import certificate on HMI

AutoGen_443184 Joined: 5/6/2025 Last visit: 7/7/2025 Posts: 17 Rating: (0)	My MTP400 HMI and 1211CPLC have been having trouble communication and I looked at my alarms and it says that legitimation of certificate failed. I opened the Security tab on the HMI and saw that there was no certificates there so I exported the certificate from TIA Portal onto a USB and then tried to import it onto my HMI but I get an error message saying that it failed to import the certificate. Murof Platinum Member Joined: 8/3/2009 Last visit: 1/16/2026 Posts: 16644 Rating: (1944)	Hello AutoGen_443184 If you do a download of the HMI Project (that is also in the same TIA Project as the PLC project) then the certificate for the Secure HMI communication will be transfered automatically. First I would check in the Security settings of the PLC in TIA the lifetime of your certificate. has it exceeded or is i OK? -> then check also if the date/time on PLC and HMI is set to correct values to meet the requirements of the certificate Bye Murof

I have checked and the certificate runs out in 2037 and I have configured the time on my PLC and my HMI to be the same date and time but it doesn't seem to be working still. I have contacted Siemens support and they said that I shouldn't even have to import a certificate onto my HMI to have it work. At least not that certificate from the PLC

If the HMI does not work properly you should considering to perform a Reset to factory settings fo the HMI and then do a fresh reaload, perhaps something is crashed in the HMI Bye Murof
