Batch is not getting updated statuses from EM/SFC's. Batch times out and shows the EM/SFC in error, but the EM/SFC status on the AS is showing Ready To Complete. This problem happened to a few random EM/SFC a few months ago. It got worse over time and involved more and more EM/SFC's. Then just last week all EM/SFC that were running experienced this problem. The fix that seems to help is to uncheck “by PLC” in the system parameter of the SIMATIC S7 Protocol Suite. The default setting is to have the “by PLC” box checked, which to my knowledge means that the AS Cyclic Read Services update tags to the OS. My questions are: - What caused this problem? - Why did unchecking “by PLC” fix the problem? - What are some potential issues that could result from leaving “by PLC” unchecked? - If we checked “by PLC”, is there a way to monitor the AS Cyclic Read Services or get a warning before the issue happens again? - How to configure the Cyclic Read Service and optimize this communication between AS-OS? Hi, it looks to me that there is too much AS-OS communication or the batch server has too much batches. If AS-OS communication exceeds the limits, WinCC will use own cycles to handle the queue. It involves many factors like the type of PLC, redundant/single server, the amount of monitors etc. You can check out the following FAQ in order to determine if you're AS communication is healthy: AS communication load Another possibility is that there are too many batches in the batch server which are not removed. The limit is 100 batches per category (planned/completed/released etc.). Having too much batches slows down the processing of batches which could result in synchronization problems with running batches. |
