Hello Community, 

During a project transfer, TIA Portal indicated that the panel (TP700 comfort touch) needed an OS Upgrade, which we went ahead and started. Unfortunately during the OS/Firmware upgrade process, the Panel was inadvertently shut down. 

Now when we turn the panel back on, it is no longer possible to access it via Profibus or Ethernet. Luckily for us, we are still able to load files via USB. I created an image from the TIA portal maintenance option, and try to use the "restore" option that exist inside the panel, but no matter what I try, I get the error "Application ctlpnl.exe encountered a serious error and must shut down". 

I was wondering if anyone had experience this, and would appreciate any help provided. Please note however that because my only way to communicate with the panel is through loading a USB disk, I cannot use TIA portal, ProTool or ProSave. 

I have looked around to try and find a firmware image or Ethernet drivers (to attempt restoring VIA TIA as even a direct Profibus connection doesn't work) for the Panel with no luck, and I hope a community member on here will be able to help me. Thank you

In this case you sould only try to do a OS Update with Factory Reset.

You can do it with Ehternet ISO Communication (MAC Adress )on a low level communication befor the Windows CE is started.

You can use the Prosave to do it manually.

Thank you so much for your answer and sorry I took so long to reply. I was finally able to solve the problem and actually came back today to share my solution with the community. I was glad to see tat the step I took was exactly what you suggested. The Ethernet port did work on a lower level once the OS update was initiated, and as you clearly mentioned, ProSave did the rest while I enjoyed a nice cup of tea.

if someoe tell me where i found the image or from where i download it or propose me a solution

Else search your harddisk for "TP700". Below shows how I searched for "KTP" panel.

i do as you say but nothing show upp i have V13 .0 not v13.1 i think that's why i don't found the image

I am not exactly sure what your issue is. But if you are able to at least get the panel to a working order (regardless of firmware version) that would be a start. 

So my suggestion is to try the restore using the V13.0 image you found, once this is done, inside your project in TIA portal, make sure the latest firmware version is selected in your hardware configuration, before a devide download, TIA will pick that up, and give you the option to upgrade to the latest firmware.

this worked for me on a number of occasion in the past, I hope it does for you too.

 My sincerest apologies for reviving this thread, but I'm afraid @Murof's answer might be still a bit ambiguous. I have read the documentation, and unfortunately despite following it thoroughly (and taking @Murof's comment into consideration), I was still unable to get my TP700 Comfort past the "SIMATIC HMI" boot screen. Naturally, it appears as if it is completely frozen. Here is what I have tried:

-I got the .fwf file from the TIA Portal v15.1.
-I have set the PG/PC interface to <Ethernet name>.TCPIP.1 (as well as attempted with .ISO)
-Made sure that I have the exact same MAC Address written in ProSave.
-Made sure that I have selected "Ethernet" as communication and have "TP700 Comfort" selected accordingly
-Then I pressed "Update OS", and it asked me to boot the HMI. THIS is when I actually booted my HMI, and not before (although I have tried with both having it already booted as well as not booted up), but to no avail. It kept asking me to boot the HMI in question.

What I found particular in @Murof's comment is the Ethernet ISO communication and the "lower level" communication, where the HMI doesn't even need to be properly booted to communicate with the PC/Laptop (I've tried both PC and Laptop). Is there a specific setting that I have to undergo before being able to communicate with the HMI? I've tried looking up the USB fix, but it only works for Basic panels (unfortunately). 

Please note that I have also made an MPI/Profibus communication as well (all the while minding the PG/PC interface), but again to no avail. Is there perhaps a step that I am missing (based on what I have described above)? Thank you!

Note: I didn't want to create a completely new thread just for this question, which is why I commented on this (as it is already existing). My apologies if I have hijacked it in any way or it goes against community guidelines in any way. Thank you again!

EDIT: I forgot to mention that I do NOT have access to the original project file, and that the program will be recovered via a .psb file after the factory reset (should it be successful). And of course, the reason for the post is that I simply have no means of communication with the HMI itself. Maybe the USB ports are working, but another else (Profibus, Ethernet, etc.) are a no go.
