PLC and WinCC 150 m away from each other

Gosai Posts: 61 Rating: (0)	Dear All, CPU 314 IFM + CP 343-1 are connected to WinCC 7.0 via Ethenet. Distance : 150 meter. How do i conenct through ethernet cable 6XV1870-2E. will it work straightway, or sometthind has to introduce in between. kindly give options of connections. I do have SCALANCE X105 also.

An idea could be to use an additional switxh at 75 meter. If this is not possible due to supplying power I would advice to use a Scalance X101-1 Media Conerter which has 1 RJ45 and one MultiMode BFOC port on one side and a Scalance X106-1 on the other side. Another possible solution could be using 2 times a Scalance XB004-1 but be carefull this is a low priced switch which is only IP20, doesn't have a redundant Power Supply and is not optimized for the FastConnect Connectors which you plan to use because of the cable you mentioned.

If you want an unmanaged simpel switch I would like to advice the Scalance X108. Especially plants like a cement factory which you mention is a plant with lots of Dust. This Dust could come into switch which could mean that a switch becomes older a lot faster.A good designed Industiral Switch like Scalance X108 or X005has a protection class of IP30 which means that the housing is closed. Additionally a high MTBF time and higher temp. range are also possible.
