Handling a GetTag### error and stopping OnErrorExecute

unipirate Posts: 10 Rating: (0)	Ok I would like to handle errors within my code when I try and do the following char* psTemp = NULL; char sCVal[#]; .... .... psTemp = GetTagChar(sCVal); if (*psTemp != NULL) { //some code } else { //some other code } where psVal is a pointer and sCVal is the tag I am trying to read. The whole point of above is to ensure that the tag sCVal does exist and can be used further in the code. This code does do exactly that, however if the tag sCVal doesn't exist I still get the OnErrorExecture error dialog in apdiag output window. So my question is: Is there some way to disable this OnErrorExecute from throwing up these dialogs? Can you handle errors yourself in this way and not get these dialogs? I would prefer it that I could disable the WinCC Scripting engine from handling my "controlled" errors but if need be we can live with it! Any ideas?

That funcion is available in "Standrd Function" in global script and you can change it as well as you want. Search for "OnError Execute" in WinCCInformationSystem, you can find here the meaning of structure also. Hope can help a lil Regards

unipirate Posts: 10 Rating: (0)	CBo Thanks for the pointers but I had already found this function and realised that there isn't anyway in its current form that I can disable the function being called. As I thought I may need to modify the function some what to suit my needs. This isn't something I want to do but seems I might be required to do. Since this si a system function and I would like to keep the original WinCC script, what is the best way of making a copy without destroying the original. At the same time ensuring the original script isn't called during runtime. any ideas? cheers
