I suppose the automatic controller setting of the speed controller is most accurate if the motor is connected to the machine, and not disconnected from it. In that way the wheigt and friction of the machine is included in the measured settings.
I have done a small test on a testmotor and saw that the motorshaft only move a couple of rotations. Is this always so, is there a fixed number of rotations that is used for the automatic controller setting of the speed controller?
My point is that if the number of rotations is within a certain range I can use it to tune my machine, if the number of rotations could be high under certain conditions it would be a danger to damage the machine (the moving part has limit switches).

But do you have experience in the 'automatic conroller setting of the speed controller'-function in Starter? The main question is if I can rely that the motor will only do a couple of turns, so when autotuning I will never reach the end positions of my machine and not damage the machine.
I am only talking about the speed controller, not DSC-tuning.
