nbk Posts: 197 Rating: (3)	Dear all, DB44.DBD56 is holding the encoder counts (Initial instruction is Move PID 412 to DB44.DBD56 where PID 412 is encoder's address) A few networks later , a bit out of DB44.DBD56 is used to command the brake of the travel drive/motor A DB44.DBX 57.0 = "A 9.3" "brake travel reforming gripper" Why is the programmer so specific about selecting this bit to control the brake? Regards This bit became high when the encoder count reach to 65536 counts (64k). I guess that the programmer wanted to brake the travel when ever the encoder counts reaches to this value. Hope this helps.

Hello nbk I wonder what type/model of encoder you use (absolute singleturn,multiturn, linear, incremental ...)and how it is connected to the PLC (Counter card, SSI, Profibus ....). Let's assume for example it is "only" a16 bit absolute encoderconnected via Profibus. In this case DB44.DBW58 (PIW 414) would contain the positionvalue and DB44.DBX57.0 could have any meaning that the encoder manufacturer decided on (e.g. encoder error, configurable software limit reached etc. etc.). I suggest you try to get hold of the manual forthe encoder to determine exactly what DB44.DBX57.0 really means. I hope this helps

Correction : The address PID 412 blongs to one inverter , not an encoder as I said before ........Apologies! netwrok 15: L PID 412 T "db44".dbd56 Immagine ingressi inverter allargamento pinze NOP 0 Now , all I understand from that "Immagine ingressi inverter allargamento pinze" is the word "inverter" alone.(May be our Italian friends on this forum could translate it) Anyways, network 21: A DB44.DBX 57.0 = "A 9.3" So now I need to get hold of the inverter's manual instead of the encoder! Regards
