How to give command for HLA to Deliver the Setpoint voltage.

I have planned to give set point voltage to Rexroth controller from HLA module .My dought is that how we need to give command for HLA module to deliver the Set point voltage? Regards, Muthamizh.S

ŠΜS Gold Member Joined: 6/7/2010 Last visit: 7/9/2024 Posts: 571 Rating: (37)	Good evening Pee & Deep, The machine is PAMA speed ram4 HBM, In that X,Y,Z,W,SP,ATC,V,B,U axis arecontrolled by 840D, PCU 50.3, Servo value is used to correct the Ram sag error .W (Ram) total travel is 2 meters, if the ram comes out totally 2 meters from headstock, there will be more sag error ,so that with the help of servo value the ram error is balanced/corrected. My application is that According to the ram movement the set point from the HLA module should go to Rexroth Servo controller card. Regards, Muthamizh.S

Pee Ell Sea Posts: 672 Rating: (57)	Hi, I've used the HLA module to control a hydraulic axis whereby the mechanics of the system are set up in the drive machine data. Cylinder sizes, feed pipe sizes, oil viscosity and, when using force mode, pressure feedback sensors. The drive machine data has a number of preset valve types from rexroth and bosch. The hla then has feedback via spool position to ensure the commanded voltage has moved the valve, encoder feedback to close the position loop or pressure sensor readings on each side of the cylinder to feedback correct force. I've also done a sagging ram application just using a standard analog output card 0-10v or 4-20ma to increase pressure to compensate for the sag as the ram extends. You read the ram position in the plc and output a voltage accordingly. Maybe I've missed something obvious. It looks you are using the hla for a simple sag function or are you just utilising a spare analog output on the hla module ?. Pee

Is it calibrated with respect to RAM forawrd distance traveled ? Or it has pressure transducersor linear measurement sensors as feed back devices used to measure the axis SAG? How exactly the function works? 2. For RAM, do the machinehas linear scale or Rotatry measurement system? If it is rotary is it absolute one? 3. For headstock weight balance, does it has hydraulic counter balance (cyclinder) or it has mechanical weight with wire ropes & pulley. DEEP.

I don’t know how much sag error will be there,at present we are in retrofitting the machine.We have planned to check the error manually for every 200mm of the total ram distance. There is no feed back for Rexroth controller card & we have not planned to give any feed back ( closed loop ) to HLA. When ram comes out , according to the distance moved by the ram, the setpoint voltage is to be given to Rexroth controller card (0-10V ) using HLA module. ( For this application only ,I need to know how the setpoint is generated by HLA for giving setpoint to Rexroth controller card ) 2. For RAM, do the machine has linear scale or Rotatry measurement system? If it is rotary is it absolute one? Distance coded linear scale.Motor is incremental encoder. 3. For headstock weight balance, does it has hydraulic counter balance (cyclinder) or it has mechanical weight with wire ropes & pulley. Mechanical weight with wire ropes. Pee Ell Sea Posts: 672 Rating: (57)	Hi, My opinion is that it would be easier to remove the HLA module and buy a standard analog card. If a Siemens sales guy specified the HLA module then get him to take it back. I've never tried to use one open loop. If somebody has a surefire solution I'd like to hear and learn as well. If you can delcare it as a spindle without feedback then the system will allow you to output a spindle speed which is relative to voltage. You will still have to overcome spool position monitoring which may be a simple bit setting. The sag compensation is easy but you don't need the complexity of trying to use an HLA module for something that is overkill and not designed for. My opinion only and I hope I'm wrong. Pee

Also I would like to know as you have mentioned that SERVO valve is used for sag adjustment application, generally SERVO valves are used in closed loop application, please check. One more question as a curiosity I would like to ask is, does your machine is originally equipped/designed for SAG adjustment in case of RAM travel?If not then how are you going to achieve it while retrofitting. DEEP.
