I see no way to read in this encoder with a normal DI card. When you have a SSI interface you need to use a SM338. |

Hello Danish if you do in fact want to use a good old fashioned Absolute Encoder with parallel Interface then a normal DI card will typically suffice for this. The input delay of astandard DI is about 5ms max (for 0-1 or 1-0 transition) andthis is heaps fast enough for any typical absolute enoccder position evalution application (your CPU cycle time will probably not be faster anyhow). The only piece of advise I would offer is to consider using an Absolute Encoder with Profibus interface instead. They areare more flexible as far aspresetting with a defined value from the program is concerned, typically give you additional values (e.g. speed) and you'll save yourself a DI card (assuming you have a DP master port on your CPU) as well as the multicore cabling.
