How to connect my S7-200 with RS-232 port

Salman Malik Posts: 2 Rating: (0)	I don't have the Rs232 master cable and I can't afford it right now. I have RS485 to USB master cable. Can I connect that by using and usb to rs232 connector availabale in the market? If I can't then please propose me a way to do it without buying rs232 master cable. Thanks..

Greg_E Posts: 88 Rating: (2)	Hi Salman Malik, you can connect your S7-200 with RS-232 and with RS-485, in PG/PC you have to configure it's as USB connection if your cable are USB and no need in any RS-232-USB connector. and i hope your RS-485 to USB cable are siemens PPI cable. Best Regards, Greg.

Thanks.. Hello, Did you mean a USB/PPM Multi Master Cable 6ES7 901-3DB30-0XA0? If you have itthen connect cable and try to find the PLC. (In Microwin -> Communication. Helmut_13 Posts: 2930 Rating: (432)	Hi, basic information: The USB PC/PPI cable does NOT support ASCII/Freeport. So if you want to exchange data between S7-200 PLC and a device with RS232 interface then you have to use the RS232 PC/PPI cable, or a converter RS485/RS232 (supporting ASCII/Freeport). Regards
