MP370 to MP377 restore

Please, help me in follow task: On a plant is one system, with 1 S7-315 CPU (without Profibus) and 1 panel MP370, connected from MPI network. My client wants make copy MP370 to second panel, and move this panel to other area (about 100m from PLC). But the client is no source project of MP370. Program from PLC I can upload and modification. I want just make copy of MP370 with ProSave (Backup/Restore) to new panel, add CP342-5 to the CPU, and connect new panel to CP342-5. So, because this MP370 is old, i have some questions: 1. Can I make Backup of MP370, and then restore this copy to new MP377, or it's impossible? 2. CanCP342-5 use MPI network to connect with new panel,withoutany changes in new panel? I doubt, because CP342-5 use MPI just like backplane connection.

I doubt, because CP342-5 use MPI just like backplane connection. Hello, Prosave is used to backup and restore projects to the same types of panels. So, it is not possible to restore a project of MP370 to MP377. Please try to contact the Programmer and get the source files of the project and then change the Panel type after openning the software with WinCC flexible. Hope this helps.

Hello Hippo_77, Already mentioned, that you will need another MP370 or the source to change it to MP377 The CP342-5 is to be used with Profibus, so you can not use it with MPI Perhaps you can use repeater to extend the length of MPI network. What should you watch out for when using the RS485 repeater in PROFIBUS and MPI bus systems? Best regards, Wizard

Yes, I agree, that I need MP370 to make copy of existing panel. 2. Why i need CP342-5? Because existing MP370 is connected to MPI interface of CPU, I can not connect copy of MP370 to same network. New panel and old panel have same address in MPI network! And as i understand, i can not change this address even in MP370 configuration, because when project in panel is started, itis used network address of that project. So, i need other network MPI with this PLC. Yes, i know, that CP342-5 is Profibus module, but it used MPI interface as backplane connection. In STEP 7 hardware configuration you can choose address of CP342-5 in Profubus network (e.g. 2), and simultaneously, choose another address for same module in MPI network (e.g.3). So, one module can beused in 2 networks (1 electrical wiring) simultaneously, as i understand. Or am I wrong? Best regards, Hippo

The CP342-5 is to have a MPI address (This is used to communicate between CPU and CP via backplane) You are right, when you backup MP370 and want to restore it in another MP370, they will both have the same MPI address (that's a problem) The only possibility will be to contact original programmer or start all over from scratch. Yes, I can create new project for MP370 (or any another panel), but it is not easy, because i have just online version of a PLC program (without any comments). It would seem a simple task - create a second panel from first one, but is not. I must work much. Best regards, Hippo.
