When you have & in front of the address you are telling it to fetch the number that points to the address. When you have * in front of the address you are saying to read from the address you are pointing to. EXAMPLE >> load a value of 10 into VB50 using indirect addressing Symbol base_address VD1000 The absolute PLC address for VB0 new_address VD1004 The absolute PLC address that needs to be accessed Network 1 LD SM0.0 MOVD &VB0, base_address Network 2 LD SM0.0 MOVD base_address, new_address +D 50, new_address Network 3** LD SM0.0 MOVB 10, *new_address The result is.. 10 >> VB [0+50] 10 >> VB50 It is important to remember that indirect addressing works different as on the S7-300/400.
