S7 300 CPU with S5 I/Os

The only possibility for the S7-300 would havebeen to use an IM 308C in the S5 racks and turn them inoto Profibus-DP slave nodes. However this solution is less and less available, the S5 line is discontinued and it is getting very difficult to get your hands on a working IM 308C. Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier

But you can use (temporary) adapter to connect the S5 front connector to S7 module. fritz Diamond Expert Joined: 10/7/2005 Last visit: 1/23/2026 Posts: 3054 Rating: (1062)	Hello AjayG if you are not afraid to use some non-Siemens gear and have either 115U or 135/155U I/O racks, you can also convert these to DP Slave I/O station (and as such of course use them with S7-300's) via the IM 306DP Slave module. Note that you will be limited to usage of standard I/O cards in the S5 racks (e.g. you can NOT useFM's, CP's, IP's etc.), but I hope this helps anyhow.
