fm350 counter & rottary absolute encoder

smrs Posts: 2 Rating: (0)	i have problem with siemens fm 350 counter module on a s7-300. the "cr" lamp is off all the time, and the lamp "dir" always on... so the counter is not synchronized and the programm is not running properly... i thought that the encoder was broken and i change it without any result. so i change the counter also and again nothing.. the problem remains... so,any idea what to do or what seems to be the problem???? or at if you could tell me how to adjust the encoder( simple, 3 outputs, rottary) maybe the adjustment is the problem... if you know anything please tell me... any idea, i should try, to make this work...

smrs Posts: 2 Rating: (0)	you are right. it an incremental rottary encoder.. i di adjust the z phaseto the origin but still nothing. i get full pusles and even the encoder rotates the pulses are the same(full)... and the programm is not working properly. all the electrovalves are "dead". if you have something else to suggest i will be happy to hear.. thank you anyway...

Now what is the voltage souce of the encoder. Is it 24VDC or 5VDC? Check the black square in the side of the module. It should be adjusted according to the voltage you have. Regards,

Keon Posts: 6 Rating: (0)	Hello smrs. I read your question about fm350 counter module. I have same problem, it does not working and cr dir lamp does not on when the incremental encoder rotating. Input value is not changing. I tested the encoder to the other fm350 card which is locaed the other panel, it is working. I used 6 fm350 module and 1 analog input card 6 fm350 module is not working. The most strange thing is analog card is working which is installed at the last of rack. How did you fix the problem? Could you kindly help me?

Did you checked that the black square in the side of FM350 is located in its correct position that match the voltage of the encoder? Please see page 21 of the following manual: FM 350-1 Counter Function Module Installation and Parameter Assignment Hope this helps.
