Hi,

We have a strange problem on one of our 840C machines.

I want to take a new PC-Link backup so i chose BACKUP then i write the normal password 1*** and there is everything just fine. Then i press START and the "mmc" reboots just as it does on all our other 840C machines but instead of the "Service meny" there comes up a DOS text asking for apassword. It looks exactly like the question you get when entering the DR-DOS from the service meny.

You can type in a password and i tried everything i can come up with 1***, MMC01_** ....... without success.
One more wired thing is that when you push "Input" after you entered the password the input button makes an extra star and then nothing more is hapening.

Does anyone have a ide what the problem might be? Otherwise the machine is working perfectly.

Thanks for your sugestion, but i have already tried it with a external keyboard without success.

We have 13 machines with 840C and none of them is asking for a password at that point. All of them are entering the "service meny" without any question for a password.

I have found a chapter in doconcd about the service meny with a "tree" that shows how the meny structure looks like and there is no information about any password at that point.

If you look closely on the video when i press input it prints a extra * on the screen and that feels not right somehow.

Does anybody have a ide what the problem might be?
