A short answer. No it is not possible. In case of distributed I/O system, you can use S7-300 family.

Hello Umair; To connect over Profibus-DP, you need a Profibus master and a Profibus slave; to connect over Profinet, you need a IO controller and a IO device (slave). ET 200 is a family of remote I/Os from Siemens, using either Profibus-DP or Profinet interfaces. You can have a look at the different types in the folowing brochure: http://www.paratrasnet.ro/pdf/automatizari-industriale/SIMATIC-ET200.pdf You can identifythe type of ET 200 unit you have with the descriptions in the brochure. Now the S7-200 PLC cannot operate over Profinet, and can only be a slave over Profibus-DP (with a EM277). see the following page from the Siemens Industry Mall describing the different communication modules available for the S7-200. https://www.automation.siemens.com/mcms/programmable-logic-controller/en/simatic-s7-controller/s7-200/communication/Pages/Default.aspx?HTTPS=REDIR So you cannot connect directly a S7-200 PLC and a ET 200 unit over Profibus-DP, as at best you wioll have 2 slaves. And Profinet is not available either, as there is no Profinet card for the S7-200. Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier |
