Mothilal Posts: 165 Rating: (25)	hi Anit Hmmm.. According to me It is not possible to dothis.. Because in run mode, Plc is executing the current instructions and doing some monitorining actions .. The execution process like scanning , reading and writing I/O ...etc all the actions are going into the plc CPU. So it is not possible to download your new program in run mode.. you should bring the PLC in stop mode..Askexperts if u want more details.. Regards Mothilal

Amit_86 Posts: 1750 Rating: (272)	Hello, can you please tell us which plc you are talking about? In siemens only s7400-H allows you to download your hardware without disturbing running plant since there are two cpu. CPU will always go to stop mode while downloading a hardware.

Be carefull with this option, it can disturb HSC and PID i have noticed. Regards, Marcjan

AMAZINGAHMED Posts: 719 Rating: (88)	I think changing the HW configuration to the CPU rack is not possible in Run mode, however, the CIR (Configuration In Run) capability for some slaves enable you to change the HW configuration of slaves during run. You may want to check this http://support.automation.siemens.com/BR/view/en/14044916 Mentioning that you have a redundant CPU, then you can stop one, download the new configuration and make it the master, then stop the other and download the new configuration
