Eastern Posts: 557 Rating: (64)	Hello, I am working on a project, which has a redundant system (S7-417-4H, CP443-1 Ethernet communication) and a Work station computer(connected to CP443-1) which has configuration software’s like Simatic manager V5.5, Starter for drives. There are more than 10 drives (Micro master 420) at long distances geographically, connected to the redundant system through Profibus Y-link. I basically use the Work station for downloading to S7-417-4H PLC. My question is, how can I download and parameterize drives from Work station computer using starter & step-7 software’s without physically going to each individual locations? I am interested in something like S7 IP routing which enables to download over different networks & protocols. I understand S7 routing from the manual “Users_Manual_WinCC_flexible_en-US” . I want to know if this(S7 routing) is possible with Micro Master 420 in this configuration and if posible what are the software and settings needed for doing this? Regards

To be able to parameterize the drives from one workstation you need to installDriveESsoftware and configure drives and PG/PC in the same S7-project. Also your CPU and CP must be capable of routing. You may read about routing in Step7 online help (find 'Networking Stations that Represent Network Gateways'), example of connection to drives through Ethernet is availablehere(instead of scalance and IE/PB-link you will use your CPU and CP).
