Help me chose right CPU-CPU connectrin.

Tjome Posts: 30 Rating: (1)	Eastern hello, I think you can take saperate cp or PN-PN Coupler for communication. PN-PN coupler work same as dp-dp coupler. But than I still have some probelm ( that customer are not allowed me to use allreadiy existing network (and) comuincations interface that allready are in use) ???? IF they was allow me to use axisting network / and interface) I sholud sett up DP/DP coupler on existing profibus network. Its same if I use PN-PN coupler - I use existing profinet connection ( and interface ) to communicate between cpus AND for comunication betwen CPUs and IO:s !?! And thats what dey do not want me to do.

Thats send/receive block in SiemensStep7 , I guess? Yes, you're right. Also look at IBN-Service's solution. If you don't need lots of data then his solution is very godd on the programming point of view - not so much work. Tjome How to avoid that timer 1 ( for example) in PLC 2 not affest timer 1 in PLC 1? Is it "inbuilt" somehow when I get those Ethernet CP modules, that I have to give them speciffic adress ? I don't understand you here, because every PLC has its own timers and if you send something with send/receive its a data in the data block. Sorry if I missunderstand you about the timer. Please can you explain more ? Maybe you speak about date and time ?

Sorry if I missunderstand you about the timer. Please can you explain more ? Maybe you speak about date and time ? No, no no... its not you that do not understaind, it se mine fault..... What I was meaning, ( timer was just (stupid) example) was: Today, CPU1 contol output q100.0. CPU 1 reach IO with output 100.0 throu profibus network. Same is with CPU 2, it have too Q100.0 on its own network. But... when I tommorow conect those two CPUs toghether with profibus/profinet - what will happen when CPU 1want to activate Q100.0? Will even Q100.0 for CPU 2 go high? They have same adress, (q100.0) are conected togheter with (new) profibus / profinet....? How shall cpu 1 know that THIS Q100.0 is allowed to activate, and not the other one Q100.0? Thats how I was thinking when I was talking about timers. ( there are several timer, Flaggs , Input/Output tht have same adress in cpu 1 and cpu2). Maybe stupid from me - its maybe so easy that I do not have those other Q from CPU2 in HW config CPU1 - so those activation will never go that way out????

Tjome Posts: 30 Rating: (1)	Hi BeVee. First plan was to have two CP340 and connect each CPU to each printer. The new directive is to connect a printer, for both systems, to a just one PLC.(PLC 1) So what I have to do, is to send an alarm( memory bits) from PLC 2 to PLC 1 . All alarmtext/messages is going to be stored in CP340 file in PLC 1. In all, there are around50 messages.So If I can transfer just about 100 bits ( or approx 6or 7 MW) it should be enought. (It was you who helped me pick out alarmmessagesfrom old S5 two weeks ago)

You must create a extra 'layer' in the software , in the plc's you create a new DB and you comunicate between PLC's using these DB's .Then its up to you what you put in the DB's or extract from the DB's

Kind regards, BV Hi. Great -just to order 2 of those CP. About bays: K1 is one cabinet and K2 is another cabinet. From the beggining it was two separate S5 CPU in each cabinet with dist IO andeach local printer. Plan A was to change out them bothto one plc with distributed IO. But atfher a while, customer decited that they want tohave two separate PLCs. (I agree that thats much better for safety - if one system failure - the second one is sill running .) And ather that decision´, to go back to 2 separate CPU, I was thinking that they want it "all back to basic"-Each separate CPU, with their own seprated dist io network, with it own separate priner - As it was before, with old S5. But directions from cutomersays that borth PLC, with their dist IO, MUST be completly seprated , and have no common communication, ethernet, profinet, profibus, interface.... But since printer is not a so high priority - they want one, insetead of two prineters. To realise that, I must set upp new seprate network for printer communications between PLC2 and PLC1 ( Plc1 is going to print all alarms) , with seprate interface too. If I decited , I shloud buye one more printer ( and one more CP340) , OR use allready existing ethernet or profibus for that priner communication, since its so little info. But thats not allowed. And, customersis allays right! So what I have to do is to fast order those 2 Ethernet CP and put then in to the HW config, ( and give them I separate adress ). Second - Use those Send/Receive blocks, ( and they maybe created automaticly instance DB?) for transmitting data? And finaly , put in my bits or MW in to Send in PLC 2, and with receive it in PLC1, and pick them upp? Or pick them up from instance DB ?

Rated X Posts: 1547 Rating: (129)	Hello, maybe the manual NCM S7 for Ethernet makes it a little bit more clear. Refer for programming chapter 3.3. There you can see that you will send the data from a DB to the connection. On receiving side you will receive the Data and it will be copied into a regular global DB. I added a link to an old version which is available in product support; the current version is installed with Step7 on your pc. You will find the manual in Documents -> NCM S7 Manuals.
