IM151-3 PN Device Name Problem

kelese Posts: 18 Rating: (0)	Hello, In our plant, we lived very interesting problem about IM151-3 PN. We have a drum line. One IM151-3 PN module was in BF. And I connected to S7-300 CPU 317-2 PN/DP via PG. In online mode, I saw that IM151 module didn't have any connection between PLC. I checked diagnostic and it says "Configured 10.10.10.86, module 10.10.10.25 conflict" It was very interesting, because in drum line, there isn't any IP address below 70.IP range is between 10.10.10.70 to 10.10.10.90. After a while, at the meantime, we encountered a problem, in the other different machine. On this machine, all OP Panel(which communicates with CPU via Profinet) was frozen, blocked. After that, fortunatelly, we removed RJ45 connector between internal network of plant and drum line. And the BF faults and the other OP panel problem was solved. We are using internal network for remote connection of programmer. We noticed that in the other machine, there is an IM151-3 PN which its IP is 10.10.10.25. And these IM151 have the same Device Name "UP11". Drum line and the other machine are completely separate, don't communicate and exchange any I/O. It is very interesting for us. Two different machines' modules overlapped. I like to learn: Does the same Device Name block the PLC communication between own module, even though the modules have different IP Address and different PLC? I hope you understand the subject.

Hello kelese yes it does and every PROFINET device on a Network must have a unique: - MAC address (unique by factory default) & - Device Name (user configured) & - IP address (user configured or automatically via for example DHCP) Step 7 will take care of this for you as a long as PN Controllers (CPU's) and PN Devices are configured within the same Step 7 project. If this is not the case, you must manully take care of this and below are a few supporting links with more on this subject: SIMATIC PROFINET System Description How can you conveniently change the IP parameters and PROFINET IO device names using a program in STEP 7 V5.5? How do you reset the IP address and device name of an I device? I hope this helps
