Locating Timers

This is so annoying that I'm guessing I am doing something stupid or missing something obvious. If you're looking at a program block and select a Marker/Flag you can navigate by cross references in the inspector window but I can't appear to do this with Timers in the same way. Often I will find the contact of a timer ?????.Q but this contacthas a ".Q" and therefore only ?????.Qs can be found in the cross reference however I would like to find the coil or Vice versa from the coil locate the contacts of it. Any other method of finding them would also be welcome.

If you copy the output of the timer to a temporary variable in the segment where you program the timer, you could have an indirect cross reference to that place . Look at the file in annex. I restrained from asking for a long time believing I must be overlooking something.

I recall back in 1992 when I could search a PLC program ONLINE for the all or the next occurrence of any of the following (OFFLINE, you could search with even more precision): instruction type (timer, NO, NC, + or - edge trigger, MOVE, etc.) tag name find coil(s) for this contact network # (as in, goto network 9) and so many other ways of searching....! and it would also go backwards in the search as well as forward. I miss the old days and easy ways to locate things. Thanks for the simple "work-around".

Without a way to cross-reference timers it makes it very difficult to track down problems. I add a TimerQ coil at the timer Q output to use since the Timer.Q bit does not cross-reference back to the timer. It's the little things like this that make the difference when debugging a system.

Name your timer DBs something besides Timer. Main_ControlPower_Timer Debounce_Delay_Timer It makes it nice to have descriptive names for debugging and troubleshooting.
