Is there really no limit to the number of internal tags in WinCC 7.0?

I am about to use a bunch, and just want to make sure. :) Thanks, Doug

Bizur Posts: 1530 Rating: (59)	Hello dougt, as far as I know, there is no limit, because internal variables don't flow into calculation of the amount of used variables, but I think you should not have so many that your performance will downgrade. Best regards Bizur

They will be used somewhere like pictures or C-Script/VB Script. Jazz_M Gold Member Joined: 9/6/2008 Last visit: 5/7/2022 Posts: 1121 Rating: (86)	Hi No Internal Tag does not get counted in the tag count, you can use any number, but note that the internal tag can be used for internal calculation in wincc say C script or recipe, But they can not be used as our external tag is used. Important point is that internal tag status of one project will not be refelected in other stations projects, you will have to use a external tag again. so it depends upon ur usage. Have fun...

I think that the performance data in the link above would be acceptable, and that data was based on slower computers than the one we are using. I am going to capture data at certain points to have it available for DataMonitor to print reports. I will have a c script write the values to internal tags, using an external tag as a trigger. Since there are several variations of how many sets of data will be needed for each step, it looks like we will need about 5,500 tags for each batch. ( 55 possible parameters for 100 batches ) I may break the reports up into smaller chunks, so that they fit on one page, and so that if there are fewer than 100 batches, the extra pages do not need to run. In any case, I expect to put in about 55,000 tags for those reports, so that the last 10 jobs will be available for review easily. There will probably be another 5,000 tags for the rest of the process and the other internal tags used to collect the data before it is parsed out to the report tags. All together, it looks like I will be at about 60,000 internal tags. Thanks again, Doug

If it seems cumbersome, it is cumbersome...
