MM440 Profibus Module

My question is, can i use USS with the Profibus optional module for MM440 to connect the MM440 (there are 3 of them) with a PC?. Please forgive me if this is a silly question to ask, but i'm fairly new in this. The project is meant to be my graduation project (or Thesis o don't know the exact term in english). Thanks for the help or advices that you can give me. Best regards. Johlan.

Johlan. with the profibus cb it use's profibus protocol not uss but you can connect all three to a pc using profibus protocol and starter software here is a link to the manual if you require it http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/6586565

Can i connect them directly to the pc without any extra hardware?, i've read that you need to use the CP5611, CP5512 cards or the PC adapter USB (6ES7972-0CB20-0XA0), also i think i read somewhere that the Pc connection Kit does communicate with the PC via USS using P0700=4, is that true? Please forgive if my english is bad, i'm doing my best haha. Thanks for the help and your time Best regards. Johlan.

Johlan. to connect to a pc using profibus you do need a cp card in the pc . to use uss from pc to mm440 you can use a pc kit and connect them .I am not sure about connecting 3 on uss i have never tried it . I have used uss to connect to 1 at a time but is slow compared to profibus. after reading the manual for multiple mm440's you have to use rs485 not rs232 protocol .here is the link to the manual http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/24178253

About the USS connection i've read that you can have 1 master and 31 slaves using that protocol, but im not sure if that applies here i think it should tho, maybe something like this (attachment). Best regards. Johlan. Yes, USS can access 31 slaves. In attachment, you want use one PC to control threeMM440s via USS protocol. I think if you PC has CP5611 and WinCC, MM440 has profibus optional module,profibus is the best choice for you. If youmust use USS, profibus optional module isn't necessary for MM440. You can connect them with 29 and 30 terminal and RS485 port in PC.
