Shopmill Program Simulation speed

John @ PPL Posts: 22 Rating: (0)	Hi, does anybody know of a way to make the program simulation display the tool path as a line as well as just showing the tool and stock removal? The simulation runs that fast whilst processing cycles that it is hard to tell exactly what path it is taking. I also have the problem of the feed over-ride knob does not influence the speed of simulation. Control is 810D Powerline PCU20 Shopmill 6.4 Can anyone help? John

Or am I misunderstanding this? Or should I convert the 4 bit BINARY 0100 to Hex giving me a value of 4 When I look in my NC_ARC files from older backups I see some machine data values are stored as Hex, some as Binary Sorry to be a real pain, but could somebody walk me through this please? John

Jefke Advanced Member Joined: 9/15/2009 Last visit: 1/14/2026 Posts: 25 Rating: (0)	Dear John, bit 0 is the LSB (least significant bit), and as in decimal counting, it is the character the most at the right. Then they start counting from right to left (!). So bit 1 is the 2nd bit from the right. And then indeed, you have to calculate from hex to bin, set the second bit and calculate back to hex. For your specific case you must enter2H. (in some HMI versions, you have to push on SELECT-key, then a user-friendly interface allows to select the disired bit(s))

John @ PPL Posts: 22 Rating: (0)	Thanks Jefke, will try that tomorrow. Out of ignorance I set it to 10000000H this afternoon not realising that there was a bit 0 and the conversion thing. I saw it as an 8 bit binary with bit 1 being on. I got that wrong though. Sort of worked it out tonight that I have to create my own bit string in Binary, then convert this to a Hex number but wanted to be sure. Still can't understand why this sim feed override wouldn't be default on anyway. John EDIT: Whilst I was setting MD34090 spindle alignment, I changed MD9718 to 2H). Then like a nugget I forgot to test if it worked :(

John @ PPL Posts: 22 Rating: (0)	So is there anyway to make the simulation screen in Shopmill v6 on an 810D show the actual toolpath lines? I have no way to see the path, only the features that it will create during machining. The Youtube videos of 828D clearly show read and green lines in the simulation screen, my 810D does not, is this a new feature of 828's or is it something I can turn on and off via parameters? Thanks in advance for any help.
