It seems that communication between S7-200 andCT unidrive's SM ethernet module must be on Modbus TCP protocol. Unfortunately,CP243-1 does not support the ModbusTCP/IP protocol. Best regards, Hristo Mihalev

Concerning S7-200 yes, you can use modbus rtu. Librairies of functions for Modbus RTU are available for the S7-200. Where in STEP 7 Micro/WIN can I find the operations libraries for the Modbus RTU protocol and USS protocol? What about the drive? |

Hello 19630825; Actually the ports on the S7-200 are standard RS-485. So setting up a Modbus RTU multidrop bus is the easiest way to go with a S7-200 CPU, if the drives accept a RS-485 connection. Please validate that from the drive documentation. You should also need to understand the Modbus mapping (variable contents and addressing) of the drive, and the Modbus functions you need to setup in order to read/write to the Modbus registers in the slave). Have a look at this introduction to Modbus, prepared by our friend and forum member smiffy, in case you need to refresh your understanding of the basics of Modbus communication: Modbus General Description As Umencho pointed out earlier, the Modbus libraries are not included in the basic MicroWin software, they must be purchased seperately. How do you implement MODBUS communication with S7-200? Hope this helps, Daniel Chartier |
