Mr Lindh Bronze Member Joined: 2/12/2011 Last visit: 6/3/2025 Posts: 115 Rating: (34)	I have been working with Tia portal V12 for a while; every day since it was delivered I must say that it is much more stable now. I have only had two crashes since I started to use it. Still I have problem to monitor in SCL code, sometimes the values are not displayed or displays the wrong value. But I really recommend anyone still working in V11 to switch over to V12... I have been in continuously contact with Siemens since the day of release of V11 professional and I can see improvements. I really locking forward for V12.5 as I think this one will be really good. Some improvements that i have herded are: * Possibility to have constants to define array boundary, as in old Step7. * Possibility to have an improved monitoring by taking a snap shoot of variables in a certain time. * Possibility to define local constants in SCL. * Possibility to turn of consistency check when entering online mode. - Possible to go online on one block. * Possibility to hide block numbers. * Multi user support. * User defined short cuts in LAD for functions. So now I’m happier than V11, but waiting for V12.5 Anyone having information about this release?

With the V12, we still experiment a lot of crashes, event with periodic saving of the project (all 30min has become a must) . We have lost today about 8hours workand are wondering where are gone all the data !!! The last backup was 8 hours old. We are waiting of some reply from Siemens to analyse the problem. We hope that it will really better in the future, Have done more than 1000 projects with all the various Step 7 versions since v5.1, but never had so much problems as with V11 and V12 !! It is very hard to restart doing something That you just finished.....I have also cases not replied by Siemens support.... We are about to release a new concept developed in Tia, but we can't Because of the instability...sad Get a grip of the software Siemens!!!!....something radical needs to be done and that is urgent as people start to lose the trust for Siemens, avoiding as far as possible using the flag ship TIA. Just read forums etc. -All experiencing the same problems after almost 2 years. TIA = Totally Irritable Application at this point. //Mr Lindh
