224XP on MPI via Tia Portal v12

ckalx Experienced Member Joined: 3/8/2013 Last visit: 12/28/2025 Posts: 18 Rating: (1)	Hello, I want to expand an MPI network that already contains 2 x 224XP , adding 2 x S7-313C units. One of the two S7-313C will also have CP343 so as to connect to some S7-1200's through Ethernet. This configuration leaves me no choise but to use Tia Portal v12 (so as to include S7-300 and S7-1200). Please note that 2 x 224XP are already programmed and will need only some communication routines added. All others will be programmed from scratch. What I have to do in Tia Portal v12 so as to include 224 XP on the MPI network? Thank you in advance

Tiago_Tre Experienced Member Joined: 10/30/2008 Last visit: 1/21/2026 Posts: 64 Rating: (2)	Hi, You should expand the 224xp with a CP Profibus or Ethernet, in Microwin follow the steps in the Wizard (there are FAQs and other topics here explain how to do this), and in the TIA Portal you need install the GSD or GSDML. So you can use MPI to communicate between S7-200 and S7-300. Best regards, Wizard
