Hello everybody!

I'm working with a Veeder-Root encoder connected to FM 351 ( high speed counter ) on a CPU S7 315-2PN/DP.

To develop this application we're using Step7 Professional V11.

I've already downloaded the sample application from Siemens Web Site but some things couldn't be clear to me. Anyone can help me please ?

When we declare the FM351 on hardware configuration, we need to specify a DB ( that I understand that it is a " control DB " ) where the module can be parametrized.

1. What's the DB word where I can read the pulse counter ?
2. The read word from the counter shows the absolute value ( negatives and positives ) or always shows a positive value and an auxiliar bit notify if the turn is foward / reverse ?
3. What's the bit that we need to set to perform the counter reset ?
4. To reset the pulse counter we just need to pulse the reset bit ?
5. Is needed to set anyone bit to start the counting of pulses ? By example, a start bit ?
