Motorola scanner and S7-200 profibus communication

dear expert, I want to establish communication between Motorola 2D barcode scanner DS3578 and S7-200 PLC CPU224 on PROFIBUS. It supports RS232 communication. For communicating with PLC i am considering ADAM 4522-AE converter.I am attaching its datasheet.Please suggest me if this configuration will work or not. Also i havnt considered any additional communication module along with PLC. please help...

Hello Projyot; Profibus-DP is out of the question, the EM277 can only act as a slave on Profibus, therefore it could not initiate comms with another Profibus slave. Also your description of the Motorola unit does not refer to Profibus-DP in any way. The easiest way would be to use the online port of the S7-200 in Freeport mode, using the PPI cable (converter from RS-485 to RS-232) to connect with your barcode reader. I suggest you download the S7-200 Tips and Tricks, and have a look at Tip 20: Using a Bar Code reader. The attachment shows the introduction to this tip, with suggested hardware.
