The transmitter case, terminal 7 or 9, must be (obligatory) connected to ground counductor (PE)? The shield of the signal cable 4-20mA is connected to ground only in safe area. Thank you

danw Gold Expert Joined: 3/28/2010 Last visit: 1/15/2026 Posts: 1209 Rating: (222)	Your part number, 6ES7 331-7RD00-0AB0, is the number for an analog input board, so nobody reading this thread knows which pressure transmitter you are working with, so how can we know what terminal 7 or 9 is? In my experience all transmitters used in I/S applications have the case/housing terminal screw connected to protective earth, but I'm not the authority that approved your pressure transmitter for I/S operation. The definitive document for the official, sanctioned wiring of an intrinsically safe transmitter is the control drawing (the electrical drawing) in the transmitter user manual. You'll have to consult that manual and control drawing to determine what terminals 7 or 9 connect to.
