Connection of S5-95U without L2-DP to a S7-400

How much data you must exchange? Maybe it is the best way when you change the PLC-module. Also you can control all with the S7-400 and replace the PLC with IM318 to use the old input/outputs. At the moment I need only information of the existent variants to communicate these S5 with a S7-400.

Hello jm1983 Please look at the link below http://industrial.softing.com/en/products/functionality/plc-connectivity/gateways-for-siemens-plcs-vertical/simatic-s5/s5-to-ethernet-interface-card-s5-pclink.html#articles This Interface can be used to communicate with the 95U over the PG Port to an S7 Controller If you need also paralell PG acess you can also use a MUX (Multiplexer) that they also offer. Hello jm1983 Do you mean with variant, differnt options ??? There are different options to connect a S5 PLC to an S7 PLC (or other). But this depends on the communication options (ports / protocols ) avaliable on the S5 Controller. For an 95U without L2-DP interface there is only the PG Port with the AS511 protocol. None of these options is supported by your S7. Here are your options: 1.Using 3rd party gateways/converter connected to theS5-PG interface 2.Exchange your S5-CPU againstCPU with 2nd serial or 2nd L2 Interface 3.Add an Interface module on the S5 4.Change the S5 againstS7 2,3 and 4 are Siemens solutions. How much data do you need to exchange? Pending on the amount of data you could usesimple I/O as well (not secure). i.e youwant to send some status and commands only. Best Regards.
