Configuring Simatic-net for communication with InTouch 7.0

Sevab-Peter Advanced Member Joined: 12/20/2005 Last visit: 10/29/2025 Posts: 30 Rating: (1)	Hello, I am trying to configure an OPC-server on a PC-station with NT4 and InTouch 7.0 I have Simatic-net 2001 installed on the PC because this is the latest version that will run under NT4. The problem is that I cant find any S7 stations to configure in the setup. In an example project there is one but that doesn't help me much. There is no way I can see a way to update the hardware. Step7 is not installed on the PC. Is there a way to update it in NetPro? I have a guide to do a setup from Wonderware (InTouch) but that seems to support an older version of Simatic-net. Is there older versions of Simatic-net avilable for download somewere? Any suggestions anyone? Regards /Peter

Regards /Peter Hi read this post:intouch communicationwith DASSIDIRECT Server you make communication with intouch and use like OPC Server. If you want to use simatic net you need simatic net 2000 - COM SL7 if you have other questions - pls! best regards umencho

J_Bell Posts: 5822 Rating: (412)	Hello, don't worry, stay with the Edition 2001. What you can do if you install the NCM PC Edition you can use unspecified Partner as a remote station. You just have to care about the TSAP you use remotely. If you want to use singlesided connections you can use the CPU as Destination and the Connection resource 3. So for a S7-300 you would always have a 03.02. I hope I could help a bit. Best regards J_Bell

Everything works OK, I can read and write in both ends, There is one small thing left only. To get Simatic net I was advised to by a licens for the current version of Simatic net to get the license, and then Siemens gave me a copy of the older 2001 version. The problem is that the 2001 version is installed with the old license tool AuthorsW, and the license on the disc with the new version of Simatic net is made for automtion license manager. When I try to install the license with AuthorsW it tells me that the license is faulty. Is there a way to solve this? Regards /Peter

It will not work with a new license, you will have to use at least a Version of V 6.3 or older because they are not floating licenses. Have you tried to install the new Authorization tool yet?
