Absolutely! This has been my pet rant for a number of years! It's a nightmare for me to search even within my own posts for solutions I posted some years ago!

THis is another thing we need from long time - already suggested (search within conference)

So many times i found it better to search using google for my post. I just type few words i remembered followed by vithani, and google gives most of the time correct post i am looking for.

Actually a thread can only be closed by the moderator for a specific reason, for example subject duplicated in another thread.

I do not see any value in indicating a thread inactive and every thread is technically always open.

I think what would make more sense is the thread starter has an option of marking "Problem Solved". When others are searching for solutions they can immediately zero in on these "Problem Solved" threads instead of reading post after post in each thread (that show up in the search) to figure out if the problem really got solved.

SIMATIC Forum should be more Facebook like - wheneversomeoneclicks the "Thanks" or assigns the "Rating" a automatic message should go to the "Private Messages" of the member's post informing him/her of this action...

I do not think so.

Some of users come back and told that problem solved. Others don't login again until they face a new problem. So, they will hit the bottom of problem solved.

If you ever tried looking for solutions in the existing threads (in a hurry) and having to go through post after post in thread after thread without getting anywhere, you would know what I mean!

I agree toPhantom75reply. Now it is so tricky to find a solution to your problem by searching the forum. Lots of threads that are related to the same title are shown as a search result, and each thread may contains 2 or 3 pages of replieswhich make it so hard for old members rather than new members.
