TIMER "start_counter" gets set back to 0

Aligasifier Posts: 30 Rating: (0)	Hi everyone!! I have a question regarding Timers. I just created a FB just with one TIMER to get to know how it behaves to include it later in my main programm. In the FB I am trying to start my counter with the variable "Start_counter"=1, and setting it later back to 0. But what happens is that I can't set the variable "Start_counter" manually to 1, because in the moment I set it to 1 it jumps back again to 0 and stays there for the rest of the time. Here is the code of the FB: FUNCTION_BLOCK "Timer" VAR_INPUT Start_Counter:BOOL:=0; hd:TIMER; END_VAR VAR reset:BOOL:=0; END_VAR VAR_OUTPUT UnserBesterTimer:S5TIME:=T#0S; bi_aus:WORD:=W#16#0; Counter_Output:BOOL:=0; END_VAR BEGIN Start_Counter:=1; UnserBesterTimer:= S_PULSE( T_NO := hd, S := Start_Counter, TV := T#20s, R := reset, BI := bi_aus, Q := Counter_Output) ; Start_Counter=0; END_FUNCTION_BLOCK Why the variable "Start_Counter" gets set back to 0 immediately and not as I expected after 20sec? Kampi Posts: 366 Rating: (30)	Becaus you have defined "StartCounter" as an input and its overwritten by outside.. You have to define it as a static tag! nice regards

I have tried declaring Start_Counter as shown beyond: VAR Start_Counter:BOOL:=0; reset:BOOL:=0; END_VAR But it hasn't changed anything. Kampi Posts: 366 Rating: (30)	Ah now i see it.. you're declaration is also wrong: instead of VAR Start_Counter:BOOL:=0; reset:BOOL:=0; END write VAR Start_Counter:BOOL; reset:BOOL; END Because here you just declare the type.. After "BEGIN" you give the value with Start_Counter:=1; thats true! But when you check consistence of the program, there must be an error! nice regards
