Can anybody please guide me if it is possibleto use SINAMICS S120 drives with Rockwell PLC5/80E controller over ProfiBus protocol communication.

the easiest way in my experience would be to set the S120 profibus telegram up as 999 (Free Telegram) and set it as one word in one word out (for the time being). You will then need to figure out how to send one word to the S120's address on the PLC5 side. In a modern Rockwell processor this would be be done by adding a generic node, with the S120's bus address and an appropriate PLC memory address but I really have no idea if this is how it is on the PLC5. Remember that the S120 is byteswapped and you will need to turn on bit10 of the S120 recieve word before any communication will be accepted by the S120. Once you get bit10 on the S120 enabled from the PLC5 you can begin to expand your telegram to suit your needs. This is the way I set up a TI505 to control a Masterdrive, and the S120 configures basically the same way. Remember you have to set up communication to each drive object you configure in the S120 as a separate ProfiBus object in your PLC.

Your priority goal should be to get bi10 of the Drive (bit3 of the PLC send word) turned on. The easiest way to get this done is send a 0xFF (binary 11111111) to the drive, that way you will know that your communication is working, then you can figure out how to toggle each individual bit.
