ET200S , PM-E F , 6ES7138-4CF03-0AB0 : 'short circuit'

ronny.dp Posts: 28 Rating: (0)	Hi all, We are having a recurrent short-circuit error on 2 PM-E-F modules (type 6ES7138-4CF03-0AB0 V2). - This happens when the power is switched on. - The SF led then lights up continuesly on these 2 modules. - To remedy the error we do the follwong : 1. deconnect some wiring from the standard DO modules untill the SF led starts to blink. 2. safety reset ( ACK-GL ) 3. reconnect all wiring 4. modules are working - Diagnostics indicates a short circuit ( on the P1/P2 channel ). - Besides these two modules there is one more in use that doesn't give any problems. The project is abroad and we are returning next week, We are looking for any advice or tips on how to solve this problem. Thanks for any help.

fritz Diamond Expert Joined: 10/7/2005 Last visit: 1/22/2026 Posts: 3054 Rating: (1062)	Hello ronny.dp no smoking gun, but suggest you check chapter 7.2 of the SIMATIC Distributed I/O System Fail-Safe Engineering ET 200S Distributed I/O System manual (switching grounded loads,crosstalk as well as too short readback times with inductive loads can all cause this error). I hope this helps and please let us know what you find

ronny.dp Posts: 28 Rating: (0)	Thanks for the info Fritz , We will be checking the wiring and voltage levels , but I don't think the readback time can be set for the P1/P2 output on the PM-E module. Ronny.

You are correct Ronny, readback time can only be set for DO0 and 1, but NOT DO2 (aka P1/P2and I somewhat missed that info in your original post).
