Reset password-protected CPU

aryzing Posts: 40 Rating: (2)	Hi all, I downloaded a program with a blank password to the CPU, however, when trying to go online, TIA portal does not allow me to instert a blank password. How can I reset the CPU? What are my options (I dont have a MMC). Thanks!

Have you tried resetting to factory defaults already and that did not work because it prompted you for a password? If you do not get an answer quickly, I would suggest quickly submitting a Support Request

aryzing Posts: 40 Rating: (2)	[SOLVED] Sorry for the scarce details regarding my setup. I wrote the entry while on site and I was all over the place trying to solve the problem. I am using TIA V13 Upd 4 and S7-1200. I finally submitted a request and they confirmed that the only way to reset the CPU was to insert an empty MMC, so that is what I did. Exact steps taken described in http://support.automation.siemens.com/WW/view/en/40588092 Lesson learned: Do not upload a password-protected program with an empty password!

Like this, doing the firmware upgrade via memory card will help to reset PLC to factory ? One thing to think about is your hardware configuration's allowance for the new firmware. You probably should update your project with the devices new firmware revision and download.
