TIA Portal v13 won't connect to a TP700 Comfort Panel

Toombs Posts: 91 Rating: (4)	Hello, Question to see if anyone has encountered this problem. I'm trying to download an HMI program to a TP700 Comfort Panel using TIA Portal v13. I can't get v13 to connect to this HMI no matter what I do. I have tried PN/IE, Ethernet, CP5711 -- nothing connects. It won't even show up in accessible devices. I've also tried updating my ethernet driver to the latest version, I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling my ethernet driver, and any other suggestion I could find on these forums. Still it won't connect. However, if I just use TIA Portal v12 it connects with no problems and I can download directly to the device without any hiccups. Is this just a bug in TIA Portal v13? I really can't think of what else it could be. The settings for the hardware configuration are the exact same in both projects, yet it won't show up in v13 and it works perfectly in v12. Thanks for your help...

Toombs Posts: 91 Rating: (4)	Hi All, Thanks for the help. Shortly after this post I finally figured it out. I think the problem was I had the HMI set to Profibus Address 1 and I believe the computer acts as Profibus Address 1 (the Master) when programming. Once I changed the Profibus address in the HMI to something else, it worked without a problem. For some reason, it wouldn't go ethernet first. But now that I've done it once with Profibus, the ethernet works without any problems. Thanks, Brett

Toombs Posts: 91 Rating: (4)	Also more information on this problem: As discussing with some Siemen's help people, I found out that I just wasn't using the software right. I was trying to click "Go Online" to the HMI because it seemed like the software would let me do this. But that is actually not an option for HMI even though it's there and not grayed out. So part of the confusion was just trying to do something that was impossible, though for some reason the Go Online sort of worked with TIA Portal v12. The Siemen's tech help has said they've asked Engineering to gray out that option for HMI but so far they haven't done so, so it leads to lots of confusion for people who are new to the software. The real way you are supposed to do it is to just download changes via Ethernet. I think I was having problems getting this to work originally, but once you connect via Profibus and download then it clears up any issues with Ethernet as well.
