I have to choose a hardware that will do the following with servo axis:

step 1: move veloctity 5m/s

step 2: when photocell detects the piece, do the flying homing. Move to absolute position.

step 3: move relative, multiple times, meantime at movingnew piece will arrive and new homing will be performed

step 4: if all relative moves are finished (1st piece is processed), move absolute (2nd piece) position

go to step 3.

Q1: May I use inputs of CU320-2PN for referencing input. What is the delay - how much path I will loose at speed 5m/s

Q2: Same as Q1, Simotion D425 instead.

When transporting piece I need also to press/lift cams when pieces travel to hold the piece in track. These cams are notpossible to implement as technology object ( at least I don't know how to do it) becauseit would need a dynamic generating of electronic cam profile. The machine is a cross cutting saw - pieces are boards and part of them are ejected. So, no typical electronic cam is possible.

Q3: I am skilled PLC programmer, but I never programmed a Simotion. Can I consider PLC as good option or is Simotion just so faster that has no sense using PLC? What scan cycle may I expect with Simotion D425 with cam lifters implemented in SCL?

I think you better use a fast input for the homing procedure at first and as far as I know the Simotion D fit these signal meanwhile I don't know for C type.

5m/sec is pretty fast and make no sense for me using a PLC. I made a fly cutting machine 1m/seccouple of years ago and I suffer so much fordelays that I guess that PLCT series fit for slow speed even now there are more powerful CPU.

Cam profile can be dynamic on Simotion and CPU T either, also is very easy to refresh.

Q3. It's not question of speed. Simotion is so different (which means so much better suited for this kind of applications) that there's no singlereason justifying usage of a PLC.

BTW, when u go for D425 then CU240 is not need, I think.
