Hello everyone,

I've run into a strange issue while using TIA Portal V13, I hope this is the right section to post it.

I have a IM 151-3 PN module connected via profinet with a IM 151-8 CPU. In this peripheral module I have to insert three input digital modules, each of which providing 4 inputs. More precisely I'm trying to insert 3 modules of number: 6ES7 131-4BD01-0AA0. I've successfully added the first of this modules, assigning to it the address ranging from E 0.0 to E 0.3. The problem comes with the second module: I want to assign to it addresses from E 0.4 to E 0.7, but TIA Portal complains, saying that those address are already in use and forcing me to use addresses starting from E 1.0. The fact is that I have not - or at least I  don't think to have - assigned those addresses to any other input module, so how could they be occupied? Is there a way to understand who is occupying those addresses?

why not packing the adresses ;)
select the IO Modules and click right Mousebutton then "Pack Adresses" an you get the right adresses you need

after adress 0 the next adress you can configure is 1, so where is your word endian?

@huggy_d1: Thank you for your answer. The fact is that I'm porting to TIA portal a project realized on Step7 v5.5, therefore I was trying to follow the same hardware configuration. In that project the IM 151-3 PN is connected to the CPU via profinet, and the the addresses of the input modules are consecutive. So there should be a way to accomplish this without moving the input nibbles in a single word as you suggest.

@ChristophD: Thank you too for the answer. If I right-click on the IO module the option "Pack addresses" is not active (it is not possible to click on it). I only have the possibility to click on "Unpack addresses", which I suppose is the exact opposite.
