for RUN/STOP you can use the systemvariable "modeofOperation" on the SINAMICS, write this variable from HMI chnge the OperationState.

In the AlarmView from the HMI you can acknowledge the SIMOTION Alarms or you do this with a userprogram and the functions _resetAxisError / _resetTechnologicalErrors which is controled by the HMI.

The Systemfunction _changeOperationMode only works if SIMOTION is in run, in STOP no program is executed.

The problem from the thread you linked is that an error occurrs and the SIMOTION can't go run anymore.
The ThreadOwner have not provided more information so is not clear why his SIMOTION don't go to run anymore.

Use the named systemvariables and you can control each Operationstate from the HMI without the systemfunction _changeOperationMode.
