Fux Posts: 661 Rating: (123)	Hello Gromit, could you tell us a little bit more about this sensor (what signal comes out,is it a frequency, voltage,.... Do you have a data sheet). Iknow what a capacitor, a sensor and a NPN-transistor is. But what are you talking about? Generally there are LOGO! versions available that haveinputsfor 0-10V, 0-20mA, 4-20mA and PT100 sensors. You can partiallyalso count frequences up to 2KHz.

LOG!C Posts: 10 Rating: (0)	I'm still confused... Is it possible to use NPN and PNP sensors with the same LOGO! 24RCE/24RCEo unit (e.g. 2 sensors NPN and 3 sensors PNP connected to the same LOGO!)? Is it possible to mix LOGO! units/modules with NPN capabilities with units/modules without this capability (e.g. main LOGO! 24RCE connected with DM8, NPN sensors connected to the main unit, PNP sensors connected to the extension module)? How exactly connect NPN sensors?

Basically you can connect everything to LOGO! if the connector fits ;-))))) I believe you want to use NTC, PTC for measuring (temperature???). For LOGO! there is no NTC/PTC module or function available. But a NTC/PTC is a resistor changing the value based on the temperature. You can use it, but LOGO! has a Resolution of 1000 steps. So you need to calculate what current you have to drive through the NTC/PTC and then measure the voltage with an analog Input on LOGO! BM, or with an AM2 analog module. At the end you will find the resolution is to bad, or the range to small. Better is to use a sensor with an 0..10V or 0 (4) .. 20mA output. Or especially for temperature measurements use a PT100/1000 at a AM2 RTD. Hope this helps

NPN sensors are most in de - of the power, and that wont work well in the LOGO. But when you use a little resistor (aprox 1000 Ohm) between the + of the power to the digital input of the LOGO and connect the NPN sensor to that digital input of the LOGO and the - (Minus) power then it works. The value of the resistor depends on the karakterestiks of the sensor you want to use. Notice, in the program (LOGO-Soft) you must inverse that input of the LOGO, but thats no problem If you can, take en PNP sensor, most time it can connect directely to the LOGO!

LOG!C Posts: 10 Rating: (0)	I could rent a sample LOGO! 24R v4 from Siemens. We tested it with our sensors and it works. We had to connect: - 24VDC from a power supply M to P1 and L+ to P2 on LOGO! - 3-wire proximity inductive sensor blue to M/P1, brown to L+/P2, and I1..I8 to black on LOGO! This way we can use any of our NPN 24VDC sensors with LOGO! 24R without any problems. My last questions: 1. Is it possible to connect v6 extension modules to LOGO! v4? 2. Is it possible to connect any extension modules with transistor outputs to LOGO!24R when using inverted polarity? (24VDC from a power supply M to P1 and L+ to P2 on LOGO!24R and L+ to L+ and M to M on the second module e.g. DM8 24)? The module should work OK but I'm not sure about the communication interface between these modules and LOGO!.
