That can be very confusing.. I know.

The trouble is that internally the analog is "upscaled" to a standard number so that 10V is read as 27648. That is true regardless if the analog is 10bit or 13bit resolution. The attached picture is an extract from the manual that shows the ranges.

Before I continue,
I must say that I assume we are working with a linear system.

What you describe there is the same procedure as you could do when calibrating the system. First you move your linear potentiometer to the minimum. The analog number ("Analog_Read") at that moment, you fill in MIN of the NORM_X block. The actual distance that it represent in [mm] goes into MIN of the SCALE_X block. Next you move to the maximum as to fill out MAX of NORM_X and SCALE_X.

For your case you should end up at    (look at 7.5V in the previous JPG)
9.7 / 10 x (27,648) = 26,818.56 => 26,819

I am unsure if the 10bit resolution issue is resolved.
Do you understand that the PLC program does not see the 10bit resolution.

So if you have 10V representing 25mm you should see 27,648 on the analog.
In theory you should have (16#5563 = 10#21,859)

21,859 / 27,648 x 25.00mm = 19.77mm
21,859 / 27,648 x 10.00V = 7.91V

In reality however you have the situations..
(1) 10V input is not 27,648
(2) the device does not give full 10V

That means you have to make a calibration experiment and set the values of the conversion to what you actually have.
