siwarex MS problem

Putta_smg Posts: 22 Rating: (0)	Hello every one, I have connected 4 siwarex MS (EM231)modules to S7-200 CPU-226. its cement concrete batching application. the system works fine for 2- 3 batches and after that all LED's on siwarex modules goes to RED and scale values will reset in the HMI panel. can anyone tel me what exactly happening and the reason for this behaviour. Thanks in advance

What happens in your plant when all red LED’s are switched on: Started a motor, a frequency converter, ...? Switched a conductor? (I mean:Do you have EMC problems?) 2. Can you see error messages into the Siwatool software? 3. Can you senda photohow the load cells are connected on the Siwarex MS modules? Best regards Siwarexi

Some times problem is happening-- second led slightly blinking, 4th led stable. then in diagnostic buffer showing alarm number 2, see attachment "mod2" 2. some times all the led glowing together for a while(stable), automaticaly reseting. when these problrm happening, the values taken in process varies randomly from set values. it is reseting automaticaly even without doing a power reset. CPU is 226, 4 siwarex module,1 ai. 1 di/do are used. supply to the mode is ok. p-pr terminal is not shorted. quick reply highly appreciated regards Vipz Attachment mod2.jpg (594 Downloads)

The error message 2 means Watchdog error! Please connect the 24VDC of the 4 Siwarex MS modules not in series, but in star connection. That means: Connect all 4 Siwarex MS modules directly to the 24 VDC. Switch off the PLC and the Siwarex MS modules, and disconnect the 4 S7-busconnectors of the Siwarex MS modules and connect these again. Maybe you have EMC problems: What happens in your plant when all red LED’s are switched on: Started a motor, a frequency converter, ...? Switched a conductor? You wrote: “some times all the led glowing together for a while(stable), automaticaly reseting.” My answer: If a Siwarex MS module is booting, all LEDs are on. vipz Gold Member Joined: 9/2/2012 Last visit: 9/25/2025 Posts: 712 Rating: (30)	Dear siwarexi, thanking for your reply. the configuration details ( load cell to siwarex module will update by tomorrow morning). 1. actualy this system is commissioned by some other party, since problem comes we went there for support. we are very new to this module. 2. in existing system the modules connected CPU-DI/DO-AI-SIWAREX order. But in manual it is mentioned the siwarex should next to CPU, then ALL OTHER MODULES. So we suggested to customer, but waiting to get confirmation from commissioning team to do so. If order of the module changes, is this problem may happen?? 3. As i mentioned, sometimes all led glows together( not during the booting , it glows for 5-10 sec, then automaticaly resets). 4. Regarding emc problem, i have to check again. As per the observation, the problem comes randomly, not with any of the particular application. so emc is least chance--I think 5. what is the recomented connection of P-Pr terminal-- that is need to connect it as per your openion? will re-connect the power supply as you suggested regards VIPZ

Siwarexi Gold Expert Joined: 1/4/2007 Last visit: 1/13/2026 Posts: 1198 Rating: (179)	Hello vipz and Putta_smg, the recommendation is to mount the Siwarex MS modules directly beside the PLC, so in that case there is no fall of voltage from the Step7-bus to the Siwarex MS modules. If all LESs are on, I believe that the Siwarex MS module do a reboot. These LEDs are automatically reset after the booting. You can see into the screenshot (sent from you) the Siwatool error message: "Reboot due to watchdog error". Sorry, but what do you mean with “P-Pr terminal”? Thanks for the image, but I would like to see how you connected the cable shield at the Siwarex MS modules. Best regards Siwarexi

I am facing a similar problem. Did you put the SIWAREXs next to the CPU? Where in the manual refers that you must put the SIWAREX next to CPU ?
