How to send ASCII data to IP:PORT in S7 1200

Ingenious Regular Member Joined: 8/22/2013 Last visit: 2/20/2025 Posts: 37 Rating: (0)	Hi, I have IP PTZ cameras in a network with a workstation, from my PC i can control the the camera position by sending an ASCII data to the camera IP port just by typing the data on web browser tab, (eg: 192.168.5.101:3001/ascii?cmd=1ma33\a) where "1ma33\a" is the ascii data, is it possible to send such commands from S7 1200 PLC to control the camera?

Have a look at this FAQ: How do you compensate for the string mismatch caused by the RCV_PTP and SEND_PTP blocks? Also you might need to build a structured tag. You can read about this in the Programming Guideline for S7-1200/1500 manual under chapter "3.6.3 STRUCT data type and PLC data types". I hope I could help!
